CCHE and HEAR Admission Standards

The Colorado Commission on High Education has established admission standards for undergraduate applicants for admission to public institutions of higher education in Colorado. The policy establishes state-level admission standards for first-time freshmen at each of the Colorado baccalaureate public institutions. Meeting the CCHE admission standards does not guarantee admission. Institutions consider a broad range of factors in making admission decisions.

For students applying for fall 2019 enrollment and later the two components of the Admission Standards Policy for first time freshmen are:

1) the Higher Education Admission Recommendations (HEAR)  and

2) the mid-50% GPA and ACT/SAT test score ranges for previously admitted students

The dials on COAdmissionsTool.org are a great visual to show this 50% mid-range for colleges and universities in Colorado.

CU-Boulder's MAPS

The Colorado Commission on Higher Education's Higher Education Admission Requirements (HEAR) are the minimum high school course work completion required for admission to four-year public colleges and universities in Colorado.  Colleges may exceed the HEAR high school course completion requirements.  The University of Colorado at Boulder's Minimum Academic Preparation Standards (MAPS) course work completion requirements exceed the HEAR course work completion requirements.
