Descriptions of Events Throughout Senior Year
Kiva
Kiva is a unique Cheyenne Mountain celebration. This tradition is a dinner hosted by the junior class to honor the time spent by the seniors at Cheyenne Mountain High School. The evening of socializing, reminiscing, and dining is interlaced with stories by the Master of Ceremony, performances displaying the talents of the graduating class and concludes with more than a decade’s worth of photos in the senior slide show.
Prom
Prom is a junior/senior dance, which takes place at the Broadmoor Hotel. The formal event is held in the spring. During the dance, the Prom court is recognized and the Prom King and Queen are crowned. Underclassmen may only attend as a guest/date of a junior or senior. Formal, semi-formal, or business wear is required. Light snacks are provided.
After Prom
After Prom provides an alternative location for students to go after the prom event ends. After Prom is held at school in the two gyms and is organized, set up, and hosted by the PTO. Each year's after Prom has a unique theme. Students do not have to attend Prom in order to go to After Prom.
Capping Ceremony
The mortarboard is a mark of both significant academic achievement and of a lifelong commitment to the love of learning. Held in the gymnasium at Cheyenne Mountain High School, the Capping Ceremony is an intimate evening ceremony between the candidate for graduation and a special person chosen by the candidate to place the mortarboard upon his/her head. This is an inspiring ceremony with light entertainment, succinct motivational speeches, and memorable picture opportunities. A buffet of desserts and beverages are served.
Senior Night
Senior Night is a fun-filled evening for seniors ONLY! The school gym is opened up and filled with bounce houses, jumbo slides, volleyball games, four-square challenges, and much more. The grills are fired up by the Principal and his administration team to serve up burgers and hotdogs for the hungry graduates. This evening is a chance for the seniors to play, eat, sign yearbooks and spend a little more time with their peers that they have grown up with on the Mountain.
